Prov’l Gov’t rescues 39 stranded studes in Baguio City

The Provincial Government of Pangasinan through the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office staged the the first batch of Hatid Estudyante program which rescued 39 stranded students of Saint Louis University (SLU) in Baguio City.

The Provincial Government coordinated the rescue with the officials of SLU to arrange the rescue operations.

“Napakahirap ng process. Kailangan nilang makompleto ang lahat ng documents tulad ng medical certificate galing sa City Health Office at travel authority from the police dito sa Baguio,” PDRRMO Operations Head Patrick Aquino said.

Saint Louis University officials expressed their gratefulness towards the Provincial Government of Pangasinan for its effort to
assist the return to the province.

“We are very thankful to the Provincial Government of Pangasinan. This is not the first time that they are coordinating and helping the stranded students of Pangasinan,” said SLU Dean of Students Affair Andrew Macalma.

It can be noted that the Provincial Government has once conducted relief operations of Pangasinan students in some schools in Baguio City including SLU.

One of the rescued student shared that they struggled for the past two months of community quarantine.

“Mahirap po pero nagpapasalamat kami sa SLU at Provincial Government ng Pangasinan sa tulong nila sa pag-uwi,” the rescued student said.

The stranded students were dropped off their respective LGUs where they were examined by their municipal and city health officers and picked up for their respective quarantine protocols.

PDRRMO Operations Head Aquino bared that the Provincial Government of Pangasinan will assist more stranded students from different schools in Baguio City.

The Provincial Government also assures that it will continue to organize the Hatid Estudyante, a component program of Balik Probinsya, to help stranded Pangasinanes from other COVID-19 affected areas.
